glitter filled die cuts...

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share a project I eventually got round to trying out the other day, I'm calling it 'glitter-fill'...catchy eh?!

I love paper piecing with die-cuts, or 'filling', (the process of putting all the 'cut' bits back in to your die-cut, normally in a contrasting colour), so I wanted try a similar technique, but using glitter to do the 'filling'.

And here are the results...

 I die-cut my main shape using 'Spellbinders shapeabilities -botanical swirl'.  I LOVE these expanding die designs, the possibilities with them are, literally, endless.  I've got a few different designs and I just can't wait to have a good play with them all!  So... I cut the designs out of kraft card and stuck it onto a double-sided adhesive sheet, trimmed to the size I wanted.  I then simply covered the whole thing in glitter (I used a 'cosmic shimmer' turquoise colour - which I can't for the life of me remember what is called and am too lazy to go and check ha).  So the glitter falls and sticks to all the open areas and creates this lovely 'filled' look. 

 I also got a chance to use my 'tattered angels - glam' (in 'tide pool'), which I got a while ago but was unsure how to use it.  I thought it was a lovely complimentary colour to the glitter I used, so I dip-dyed some paper flowers to use as embellishments and add some more sparkle (never too much sparkle, right?).

The sentiment is from the 'mama elephant - up and away' set, which is just amazing and so versatile, stamped onto a little banner I made.

I finished the card with my 'glam' dyed paper flowers, some 'candi', and some leafy flourishes (cut out of the same main die - 'Spellbinders-botanical swirl'.

Here's another take on the same idea, using distress glitters in 3 different colours (spiced marmalade, peeled paint and mustard seed) to give a completely different look.

                                                                     

I love the results and have a load of ideas spinning around my head of what to do with all my other die-cuts, and other 'filling' possibilities.  I'll be sure to share my results!
